Here’s an exclusive first look at Decadence, Marc Jacobs’ first “mature” fragrance in 2015. Each of his pillar fragrances represents a distinctive character: Daisy is a sweet girl next door, Lola is quirky, and Decadence is sexy and sophisticated.
Speaking of the fragrance as if its his new It-girl, Jacobs said: “I like the idea of that extrovert, that show-off, and I like the things that symbolise her – whether it’s the beads or the feathers or the sequins,” adding: “It’s all the trappings of the extrovert more interesting to me than they ever were before.”
The bottle design, which is a “personal talisman” of the designer as a symbol of opulence and glamour, is reminiscent of an emerald green handbag with python pattern, gold chain and black tassel and could easily be mistaken for a piece of fine jewellery.
The rich and elegant composition was created in collaboration with perfumer Annie Buzantian. The top notes include Italian plum, saffron and iris. Bulgarian rose, Sambac jasmine and orris root form the heart of the perfume, while the base includes warm liquid amber, vetiver and papyrus wood.
Of course the designer just tapped the ultimate showgirl in Cher, who was recently announced as the new face of Marc Jacobs ready-to-wear, but the face of the campaign shot by Steven Meisel is Adriana Lima. Print will begin running in October fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazines, and a digital commercial will make its debut in late September, so stay tuned to see more …
