Gisele Bündchen has been named the latest face of iconic fragrance Chanel No.5, following in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt and even Marilyn Monroe.
Chosen by Chanel for her “natural beauty and modern femininity,” as WWD reports, 33-year-old Bündchen is already the face of its best-selling make-up line of face glow-getters, Les Beiges. The fashionable pairing will also no doubt expect similar success for her fragrance fronting.
The gorgeous model is teaming up with director Baz Luhrmann for the new campaign – who worked with the brand on their 2004 advertisement starring Kidman – and I fully expect another extravagant creation. Luhrmann, who is best known for his work on The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet, doesn’t shy away from special effects and simply creating an atmosphere that you want to jump into and touch.
Every time Chanel reveals a new face of No 5, they also reveal a new chapter in the world’s best-selling scent. Nicole Kidman‘s era was all about romance, Brad Pitt‘s short reign in 2012 as No 5’s first front man was all about reflection, and most recently Marilyn Monroe reminded me that this was an iconic scent, with a rich and extremely glamorous history.
So perhaps Chanel’s newest face, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, is here to remind us that No 5 is not only an iconic perfume, but also a modern, young and fashionable fragrance…
