Uncle Karl has teamed up with Berlin-based online retail giant Zalando to create Sport City, an 18-piece capsule collection inspired by sportswear shapes and the urban jungle mixing fabrics usually relegated to the playing field with street ready styles to create a hyper-modern aesthetic fit for any cosmopolitan girl.
So the man who once famously said that “sweatpants are a sign of defeat,” didn’t seem to be stopped by his own words and designed ready-to-wear collection which includes sweatpants, dresses, blousons, shirts and bags combining sports textiles like lightweight neoprene and crepe with more fashionable fabrics like perforated leather and metallic materials.
Lagerfeld’s iconic and beloved pet cat Choupette also appears in the lineup via a feline print. The launch is supported by the Karl Lagerfeld Sports campaign, photographed by Jan Welters.
Prices range from 40 euro, or $45 at current exchange rate, for a bag, to 390 euro, or $440, for a jacket.
