Miu Miu has enlisted French-English actress Stacy Martin to be the face of its first signature fragrance, in a shoot photographed by Steven Meisel. In the forthcoming campaign, Martin plays a retro beauty with the swingy hair of a post-millennial Catherine Deneuve and a modern cat eye.
“What I like about Miu Miu is the relationship the brand has with cinema and art. They commission short films made by women, support artists and always find new ways to mix fashion with other spheres, making clothes part of the story,” Martin said noting, “It’s what I like best about fashion.”
Martin is said to have caught Miuccia Prada‘s eye for her audaciousness and bold and unapologetic professional choices and her class, which may be somewhat attributed to her international upbringing – she spent some time growing up in Japan. She is best known for playing ‘Young Joe’ in Lars von Trier’s uninhibited 2013 film, Nymphomaniac.

According to Caroline Javoy, vice-chairman of marketing at Coty Inc., the scent is being created as “unique, youthful, bright colors and sophisticated.”
The composition of the scent is signed by perfumer Danielle Roche Andrier, known for her creations for the house of Prada (as well as Bvlgari, Marni, Bottega Veneta). The composition of Miu Miu fragrance opens in a fresh and floral manner, and as it develops it begins warmer and woodsier, says Danielle.
The flacon of the first Miu Miu fragrance, which launches nationwide on 1st September, is inspired by the special material characteristic of luxurious Miu Miu’s matelassé leather bags. The turquoise flacon body repeats the pattern; the neck of the bottle is white, with the brand logo, while the stopper is made of a bright red plastic disk.
